Description of Program
Hours
S.K. Lee's Taekwondo Academy After school program is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 2:00PM to 5:30PM and Wednesday 12:00PM to 5:30PM. On storm days the Academy will be open 7:45AM to 5:30PM.
Late pick-up
Children who are not picked up by 5:45 PM will be charged $6.00 for every 15 minutes late, for example pickup from 5:46-6:00 will be charged $6.00. Pick-up from 6:01-6:15 will be charged $12.00 etc. Late charges will be due by the next tuition payment. If for some reason you will be delayed please call us and no charge will be applied. I understand that emergencies arise; however please keep in mind that we have families too and have things to do in the evening.
Release of Children
If anyone other than the parents of the child is asked to pick-up the child than we MUST have this prior authorization in writing. Children will only be released to those persons whose names are listed on the child profile form. Photo identification will be required for pick-up of children.
Sign In/Out
Parents are required to sign their children in and out on the sign in sheets provided. We offer a convenient pick-up service from the schools and if this is required than the authorization form that is at the back of this parent handbook must be signed. Children cannot be released until the sign out sheet is signed. (It is required by Social Development).
Snow Days/Parent Teacher
On a day that school is cancelled because of weather or parent teacher meetings we will be here to take care of children for the entire day (7:45 AM). In the event that school is cancelled before school starts for the day then it is the responsibility of the parents to provide transportation to our facility. If schools are cancelled after school starts then we will provide pick up from the school to our facility. On parent teacher days or any other day that school is closed other than Holidays it is the responsibility of the parents to arrange transportation to our facility. The extra fee for the entire day is $12.00 (if child is dropped off before 12:00pm, $7.00 if child is dropped off after 12.00 pm), payment is due when dropping your child off. Please note that we are open for full days according to the District 18 school board schedule. Ecole St. Anne parents please note that we will not be open for full days unless it corresponds with the District 18 schedule.
Personal Belongings
Personal belongings such as toys, etc. can be brought to the facility as long as the parents understand that S.K. Lee's will not be responsible if the toy or belonging gets lost or stolen. Extra clothes and the child's' Taekwondo uniform are to be in a tote bag (not plastic grocery bag) that has the child's name marked on it. Also it is a good idea to have their uniform and belt marked with their name.
Vacation
if you go on vacation while your child is in our program and you take your child with you, please note that 3 weeks per year will be allowed with you only having to pay $25.00 per week to hold your child's position in the program. You can also use these three weeks to pay only $25.00 for Christmas break and/or March break. (We will still be open for these times and there is no reduction in rate for Christmas and March Break).
Written Notice
Nutrition
We do not provide snacks or lunches for the after school children. Please send healthy snacks as opposed to junk food and candy.
Birthdays
We will post all children's birthdays on the bulletin board and sing happy birthday to them. If you wish to bring a birthday cake or have a party at our facility please call the director to make arrangements. All food provided must be purchased from a store.
Dress
Please keep an extra set of clothing in a tote bag in the after school room in case of accidents. If you choose for your children to participate in a Taekwondo outing then they must have the proper clothing (Eg. swimming, trip to the park). You will be notified in advanced the clothing needed. They must also have a uniform to participate in the class.
Holidays
S.K. Lee's After School Program will be closed on the following days: New Years Eve, New Years Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, New Brunswick Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day & Boxing Day. There will be no reduction in tuition for these holidays. When a holiday falls on a weekend, it will be observed on a Monday or Friday. Other closures may occur due to provider illness or family emergencies. Provider will give notice of closures as soon as possible. Taking care of children is a very high stress occupation but is one that we love and have a passion for. In order for us to provide the best possible care for your most prized possession we need time to relax and unwind with our family on holidays and weekends. For 10 days in the winter and summer we will be taking a vacation, our facilities will still be open with qualified employees being in charge for the time that we are away.
Neglect/Abuse
The provider/director will notify Social Development or local authorities when it is suspected a child is being neglected or abused.
Illness
If any child(ren) suffers from any symptoms listed on the Management of Illness form (refer to attached chart) the child(ren) should remain at home for the exclusion period. If the child is at our facility the child(ren) will be separated from the other children and the parents will be notified and must pick up their child(ren) within one hour. In cases of communicable diseases (refer to attached chart) a Return after Exclusion form must be completed prior to your child(ren) returning to our facility, if the illness requires one.

Attendance
Newly implemented government regulations require us to record your child(ren)'s arrival and departure times and record reasons for being absent. Please notify us by 10:00 am with the reason your child(ren) will be absent.
Enrollment
Rates
Yearly registration fee is $50.00 per child (non-refundable)
After school program: $80.00 / week with pickup from school / $70.00/week without pick up & includes Taekwondo
Storm days, No School: $12.00 extra/day if dropped off before 12:00PM, if after 12:00PM $7.00 extra/day
Summer camps, March break camp: $130/week, additional weeks $120.00, register for 10 weeks = 1 week free and $32.00/day
Payments - Payments are due monthly at the first of every month. There will be a $3.00 charge per day for late payments.
NSF Checks - a $25.00 fee will be charged on NSF checks, no exceptions. If two checks are returned then payment will be required by cash or money order thereafter.
Medical Requirements
Medication - We will not be giving medication to students except in special circumstances such as life threatening conditions. Prescribed medication will be given ONLY from original containers clearly labeled with child's name, type and date of prescribed medication and amount of dosage.
Parents Visit
S.K. Lee's After School Program has an open door policy. Parents are invited and encouraged to visit at any time. All we ask is that you be courteous.
Parent's Grievances and Suggestions
If there is a problem or concern over any matter please feel free to contact the director(s) or administrator to discuss the concerned areas. The same applies for any suggestions that will help us serve you better.
Transportation
Transportation is included with the regular fees, an authorization form for you to sign is included at the end of this booklet. On outings we will be transporting the children in our car which we carry proper insurance for transporting passengers. If you send your child in a taxi to our facility or from our facility at the end of the day a written notice must be provided to us, also you must inform the taxi company that the driver will have to come in to the facility and sign the child out.
Fire Drills
Fire drills will be conducted monthly in accordance with Social Development Regulations. In case of fire go to the nearest exit and we will meet at the Kimble garden located beside us.
Emergency Procedures
In the event that our facility cannot be used for after school services because of events that are out of our control we have made arrangements to use a local church until the children can return to our facility. We refer to this location as our "Safe Haven" which is located at 45 Kimble Ct. Forest Hill United church.

Parent Conferences
The provider/director is always available to discuss any concerns you have about your child, a parent conference will be arranged at your request.
Volunteers
Volunteers! We love you! Your participation is greatly appreciated. Your involvement in many activities such as story times, games, field trips, etc. can help the children by leading with example. Provincial law requires volunteers must be cleared through a criminal history check and a Social Development prior contact check. Persons who are not cleared through this process will not be allowed to volunteer. (Government regulations).
Pictures
Photos will be taken of your child from time to time and will be put on our web page at www.leetkd.ca. If possible we may have class pictures taken once per year, parents will be notified in advance if this happens.
Field Trips
Field trips will be planned. Information about field trips will be posted three days in advance and a signed permission slip will be required.
Behavior/Discipline
If discipline is required the child is given 2 warnings then placed on a time-out according to their age. All of our after school program children are Taekwondo students and their expected behavior is explained very carefully to them on a continual basis. There is absolutely no tolerance for fighting or bullying in or outside of the program, if a child fights then they will be expelled from the program. Taekwondo is not taught as a provocative sport and should not be used as such. For children misbehaving they will receive 3 misconduct notices before being expelled.
